The clock ticked, moving minute by minute towards midnight.
Sean leaned back in his wheelchair, eyes half-closed. His right hand rested on his heart, cradling the pocket watch that no longer worked in his palm.
His body was already too weak, but he persisted, only to await this day. The children he had captured had been released by him.
Tomorrow, they will reunite with their parents to enjoy a brand new life.
He smiled, followed by a violent cough. He lifted his hand, looking at the pocket watch given to him by Claire. His face was reflected on the smooth surface — twisted and ugly, like a true monster.
He lowered his hand, took a deep breath, and murmured, "It will be over soon. No one will discriminate against your flaws from now on, because everyone will be the same, haha..."
The clock ticks, and the whole world only hears its sound.
