Formless - Part 7

Hundreds of dark gun muzzles were aimed at Lu Ah-Cang and her employer.

The police had received reliable intelligence that the kidnappers were in this residential area slated for demolition. The tip-off was crystal clear, and even told the police they would find them in front of this building.

The directive to besiege the kidnappers came from the police headquarters. No one dared to question it, and no one dared to delay.

André felt foolish, thinking all the police in Paris were fools; being led around by the nose was a terrible feeling.

Outside the heavily surrounded house, obviously stood a person named Mu Yeliang, the delivered guy. Although André hadn't been working with him for long, he would never make the basic mistake of not knowing the identity of the person next to him. All of Mu Yeliang's information was completely consistent with the system's records, and even the fingerprints were identical. How could it be possible that there was a living Mu Yeliang right there, but he was informed on the phone that another Mu Yeliang had been found unconscious in a trash heap in the 12th arrondissement and was taken to the hospital?

How could there be two Mu Yeliang in the world! And one of them was even labeled as a kidnapper. André's brain cells were in complete disarray from confusion.

"How did they find out we're here so quickly?" Lu Ah-Cang assured the man with her eyes that she was definitely not the hidden traitor.

"Of course I know it's not you," his gaze fell on the still unconscious wild boar demons, "and naturally it couldn't be them either." He looked around at the fully armed officers as he spoke and smiled, "It's such a waste of resources for so many people to come."

Lu Ah-Cang thought that these police officers should, as usual, start with shouting catchphrases like "You are surrounded! Drop your weapons and surrender!" before deciding on the next course of action.

However, this time, almost all the guns were immediately loaded and ready to fire. With just one command, countless bullets would turn them into sieves.

Of course, Charlotte would become a sieve, and this transformed body would die, but Lu Ah-Cang wouldn't. So she had no fear and believed that the man beside her, her employer, would be fine as well. No supernatural being is ever afraid of human bullets, really.

She wanted to see what these humans were up to. After all, she was currently Charlotte, and if the man posing as a police officer next to her was convicted as a kidnapper, then she would be the best hostage. However, none of the gun muzzles showed any qualms due to the "hostage" situation. The fingers on the triggers were only waiting for an order.

"Get ready!" The on-site commander, a middle-aged bald man wearing thick bulletproof gear, raised his hand. Are they going to start shooting to kill? Lu Ah-Cang wondered. She was right next to the kidnapper; didn't they care about her life?

"Stop!" André shouted, jumping out and running to the commander, yelling, "Who gave you the permission to open fire now? Did you even see who that person is? He was sent by the Chinese government to assist us! And the person next to him is Charlotte Beroul! You're actually going to shoot?"

The commander coldly stared at him: "This is an order from above! We're just following orders."

"Damn orders!" André roared like a lion, "We are police, not executioners! How can you just shoot them without investigating clearly first? This is against the regulations and even against humanity!"

"You have no right to interfere with the orders of your superiors." The commander sent a meaningful glance to the side, and immediately two burly men came forward, ready to drag André away.

André slapped away the large hand reaching towards him, ran towards the house in the middle of the encirclement, raised his gun, and shouted, "I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere. If you have the guts, shoot me in the head and then go kill the kidnapper! But before that, I'll take down anyone who approaches!"

"What an as*hole!" The commander gnashed his teeth in anger and muttered a few words to the person beside him.

"He's a good man, just has a bit of a bad temper," the man looked at André, who was standing in front of them to stop the police from shooting, and said to Lu Ah-Cang. After speaking, he picked up a dry leaf from the ground and threw it towards André without batting an eye.

André only felt as if his neck had been bitten by an ant; a numbness immediately spread throughout his body. Before falling to the ground, the last person he saw was "Mu Yeliang" standing in front of the house. He didn't know which Mu Yeliang, the one standing here or the one lying in the hospital, was real. All he saw was the exaggerated lips movement as the person mouthed a thank you.

Why say thank you… André didn't understand. As soon as he hit the ground, two police officers quickly moved him away from the danger zone. Bullets whizzed through the air and rained down towards Lu Ah-Cang and the man — she had never encountered such a large-scale "hunt" in her life. Before, she had at most taken an assassination bullet for her employer, nothing more. The man grabbed Lu Ah-Cang's hand and dodged skillfully and quickly, asking, "Having fun?"

"I don't like being used as a target for fun," she replied grumpily, "Let's get out of here now."

"We have to bring my wild boar brothers with us. Let's each carry one!"

"Are you kidding? Why would we..." Before Lu Ah-Cang could finish her sentence, she saw his expression change and heard him mutter, "Not good."

Looking at his arm, she saw two bullet holes that had appeared at some point, and purple blood was slowly oozing out. It is impossible for human bullets to hurt supernatural beings.

Lu Ah-Cang quickly pulled the injured man to the back of the house. He touched his wound and said, "These ordinary bullets have a few blood silver bullets mixed in."

A mixture extracted from the blood of seven different types of black animals, and combined with an appropriate proportion of pure silver solution, forms "blood silver," an effective implement to deal with demons and monsters. Many hunters like to add blood silver to bullets or weapons. Once a demon or monster is hit by a weapon containing blood silver, it will be injured like an ordinary human, or even die. However, the method of making blood silver, and even the existence of such a substance, is something that ordinary humans cannot possibly know. Someone intentionally wanted to send these two demons to their deaths.

The attack continued, with all of Paris's firepower concentrated in one place. However, there was no movement at all behind the house, only a wisp of white smoke rising.

The commander ordered a ceasefire. Everyone cautiously approached the back of the house and saw that there was no one else on the ground except two strange big guys with horns on their heads, who were sleeping like dead pigs. Only a set of men's clothes was left alone not far away.
