Extra 30 About the smoking problem
Tian Yuan was not a heavy smoker, whereas Pan Lei had a stronger addiction to tobacco. Pan Lei would normally mop the floor, wash the dishes, launder the clothing, and so on while smoking a cigarette.
The most absurd thing was that whenever he stooped over to clean the floor, cigarette ash would fall over the freshly wiped floor. He'd frown and wipe it away again.
Tian Yuan didn't like him smoking so much, even if he smoked himself. But, as a doctor, he was well aware of the dangers of smoking. Tian Yuan emptied a pack every three days or so. Pan Lei was almost up to a pack of cigarettes every day.
Tian Yuan had urged him to smoke less, and Pan Lei readily agreed but quickly forgot. When it was just the two of them, he was a little more controlled.
Tian Yuan prepared throat moistening tea for him, but it was ineffective.
Tian Yuan frowned gravely, especially after Pan Lei caught a cold and coughed for a month.
Tian Yuan leaned against the door frame to gaze at Pan Lei, who was in good health and mopping the floor by hand. Pan Lei was still smoking a cigarette, and when the ashes fell from it, he wiped it down again.
Tian Yuan walked over, snatched the cigarette from his mouth, placed it in his own mouth, and smoked while watching TV.
Pan Lei didn't see anything wrong with this. They frequently smoked in this manner; a cigarette shared by two people.
Pan Lei went to light another cigarette not even five minutes later. Tian Yuan spotted him and waved to him. Pan Lei assumed Tian Yuan had something to say to him, but as he approached, Tian Yuan evaded him and took the cigarette from his mouth once more. He blew smoke towards Pan Lei's eyes, then resumed watching TV with his eyes narrowed.
Pan Lei scratched his head. Tian Yuan's desire to smoke was very strong today.
Tian Yuan didn't say much and finished the cigarette. Pan Lei joined him in watching a TV drama. It was a clichéd romance drama, and he had no idea what was going on. His entire focus was on Tian Yuan. He leaned in close to Tian Yuan, stroking his neck and touching his hand. Tian Yuan instinctively leaned against him.
Pan Lei felt an urge to smoke after 10 minutes this time. He'd been robbed of two cigarettes in a row, so he still wanted to smoke.
Tian Yuan gave him a side-eye when he reached for the cigarette case again. Pan Lei immediately retracted his hand.
Pan Lei didn't dare to move even after forty minutes of watching the TV show. He was missing the stick in his mouth, and the thought of smoking made him itch all over.
When Tian Yuan went to the bathroom during the commercials, Pan Lei quickly lit a cigarette and took a deep breath.
Pan Lei had smoked half of it by the time he came out. Tian Yuan noticed this and grabbed it, putting it in his own mouth.
"Baby, you’re a bit addicted to smoking today."
"I'll smoke if you smoke."
"You’re in poor health; don't try to be brave."
"Someone refuses to listen to advice. I ask him to smoke less, but he doesn’t listen, so I’m forced to do this. I'll grab a cigarette and smoke it with him as long as I see him smoking. It’s not a big deal. He wishes to die young, so I shall accompany him. We agreed to live and die together."
Tian Yuan's harsh remarks choked Pan Lei.
"I’m not forcing you to quit smoking. I smoke too. I just want you to smoke less. You mustn’t smoke more than one pack every three days."
"Do you want me to smoke half a cigarette, pinch it off, and light the other half when I want to smoke?"
Tian Yuan smacked the couch.
"Fine! You don’t listen to advice, so just give me a one-word response. A pack of cigarettes every three days. Yes or no?"
Pan Lei scowled at his beloved, but he was helpless when it came to him.
"If you smoke one pack every day, I'll smoke two."
"No! One pack for three days. I promise you."
Tian Yuan just smiled. Humph! I don't believe he can't be subdued.
"Strive to follow the family precepts. If you break it, I'll strip you naked and throw you down the street. Let's see whether you're humiliated."

I'm not a doctor, but a pack for three days sounds too much...
