Chapter 1: Married

When Xie Wang came out of the movie press conference, he let out a long sigh of relief.

He was on vacation!

He made a personal outing checklist for the short three-day holiday and slapped it right in front of Lin Jianlu.

"Break free from the shackles of marriage and return to the happiness of being single," Lin Jianlu read out the words on the plan coldly. "Oh."

Lin Jianlu: "Go."

Under the light, the side profile of the omega looked indifferent, without any hint of emotion.

Is that a yes?

Xie Wang had prepared a whole bunch of arguments about "freedom," but suddenly his mouth was zipped and he couldn't say them out loud.

Their marriage began a year ago due to an accident—

A dim hotel room, the pervasive scent of bitter grapefruit, and a lifelong mark that was accidentally made.

Then came the subsequent marriage arranged by the parents.

Lin Jianlu was different from the usual omegas.

He was aloof and proud, not clingy at all.

Xie Wang always felt he should prefer a sweet little omega.

"I'm leaving!" Xie Wang raised his voice.

Lin Jianlu ignored him, as if he had heard some irrelevant background noise.

The omega was kneeling on the carpet, tuning a zither. His lower back was slightly curved, and his loose white pajamas outlined his slender shoulders and back.

The position of his shoulder blades was slightly prominent, and the slightly raised gland at the back of his almost translucent white neck was faintly pink under the light.

In less visible areas, there were still faint bruises left by fingerprints, which had faded considerably.

If not for the one who caused them, perhaps no one would recognize the origin of these marks.

He reached for the sheet music on the table, and his white pajamas lifted with the movement, revealing a stretch of snowy white waist, the curve of his lower back slightly arched.

Xie Wang had just taken two steps when a fire ignited in his heart.

The air seemed to carry a faint hint of strawberry scent, causing the natural irritability and wildness of an alpha to boil up.

He took two steps back, and as if in a fit of anger, grabbed the person on the floor by the waist, lifting him up.

Lin Jianlu was thrown onto the sofa by him, sinking deeply into the soft cushions. His clear, glass-like eyes looked at him calmly.

"Didn't you say you were going to the nightclub?" Lin Jianlu asked. "You don't like my type, anyway."

The wide neckline of his pajamas had slipped off one shoulder due to the previous movement, revealing his snowy white shoulder and neck, and a crimson birthmark on his collarbone, resembling half of an open butterfly wing, fragile yet beautiful.

Cold and alluring.

"To hell with going anywhere," Xie Wang cursed himself inwardly.

My face hurts.

It wasn't estrus, nor was it pheromones leading around.

Even though he believed Lin Jianlu wasn't his type, he couldn't resist the temptation.

It was always like this.

He was like a beast trapped in a cage by mistake, all his savagery and agitation provoked, ferocious yet weak, roaring but unable to escape the confines of his cage.

All he could do was vent unscrupulously.

He pressed that aloof, ascetic face against his shoulder and bowed his head slightly.

The alpha's sharp canine teeth pierced the omega's gland.

A flood of pheromones was injected, triggering someone's estrus.

The room was filled with the sweet scent of strawberries.

Xie Wang fell asleep amidst this mix of frustration and pleasure.

Before closing his eyes, he seemed to see the omega dragging his limp legs, sitting back on the sofa, huddling into a ball, and continuing to write songs.

It felt like he slept for a very long time.

When he woke up, the daylight was bright, as if... it was already afternoon.

Afternoon?

Shit, Lin Jianlu had been forced into estrus by him yesterday.

Omegas in this phase needed a lot of care.

"Lin Jianlu!" He opened his eyes and shouted, "Does it hurt? Do you need a mark?”

The surroundings were dead silent, followed by a buzz of whispers.

"So impressive, is this what an alpha is like?”

"Puh-lease, let him give a practical exam and we'll see if he's the real deal."

"Getting famous early must be something."

"Ahem, this student." The invigilator coughed. "Well…the exam isn't over yet, please calm down a bit."

Exam?

What exam?

The last exam Xie Wang took was in his senior year of college, and it was a final exam on ABO physiology.

However...

On the test paper in front of him, it was clearly written—

College Students' ABO Physiology Course Final Exam

Xie Wang: "..."

The question he was halfway through answering was about the special care needed during an omega's estrus.

So where is Lin Jianlu? Where is my wife?

"Hey, you there, student..."

He hurriedly stood up, slammed his test paper on the teachers' desk, and rushed out of the classroom.

As soon as he turned on his phone, a call came in.

"Have you finished the exam? If you have, go to the audition." His agent's voice came from the other end of the phone. "The director of 'Hidden Blade' has been waiting for you for a long time. In the evening, you also have to attend the graduation ceremony for outstanding graduates."

Xie Wang: "?"

"Did you forget?" he asked. "I won the Golden Bamboo Award for 'Hidden Blade' last year."

"...Do you see the nine buildings of your school?" the agent asked.

Xie Wang: "Yeah?"

"I donated them all," the agent said sincerely.

Xie Wang sneered and mercilessly mocked, "What beautiful dream are you having?"

"You already know it's a fucking dream, so why aren't you coming to the audition!" his agent's roar came from the speaker.

Sitting in the car, Xie Wang was still at a loss.

It seemed like he had... traveled back four years.

Then, what about Lin Jianlu?

Where was his wife?

"Da Sun, do you know Lin Jianlu?" he asked.

"Never heard of him," his agent replied.

"Lin Jianlu, the singer," Xie Wang said. "'Knowing,' 'An Instant,' 'Waiting for You,' everyone can sing those songs. Don't you know them?"

Hearing Xie Wang speak so confidently and logically, his agent also became puzzled. He took out his phone, opened a search engine, and typed in "Lin Jianlu."

Zero results.

There was no such person in the industry.

Xie Wang settled down.

The wish of "returning to the happiness of being single" had unexpectedly come true.

He would definitely not look for Lin Jianlu.

He doesn't like omegas who are too cold.

***

Lin Jianlu stood in front of the mirror, his forehead and shirt damp with sweat.

The music in the dance studio had stopped.

He took a moment to catch his breath, rubbing his waist which was sore and soft from practicing.

On the floor beside the mirror, his phone screen lit up once again.

[xw]: Hello, I'm your future husband.

[xw]: You might not believe it, but I really am your husband.

He tossed the phone aside, went to the bathroom to take a shower, changed into clean, fresh clothes, and shouldered his black backpack before leaving the company.

Outside the company building, a few alpha fans stood around. Seeing him come out, they promptly started waving the light sticks in their hands.

"Lin Jianlu, your husband is here to see you! Marry me!"

"Don't look at him, I'm your real husband!"

"I'm Lin Jianlu's dog!"

Lin Jianlu walked past with a blank expression.

The omega had a very beautiful face, with slightly long and soft black hair, a slender neck, and a white shirt covering his lean shoulders and tucked into a narrow waist.

He followed the security guard to his car, his light-colored eyes clear and indifferent.

On his phone, the message from the unfamiliar user popped up again—

[xw]: I'm sure no one has ever said this to you before, right?

As the car door closed, Lin Jianlu could still hear the shouts of those fans.

[YoYo]: Oh, you're the tenth person today claiming to be my husband.

He blacklisted the number, closed his eyes, and leaned back in his seat.

It was X University's graduation ceremony in the evening. According to the school's regulations, outstanding students had to present flowers to the graduates.

He happened to be the one chosen for this task.

***

In the evening, when Xie Wang arrived at X University, his left cheek seemed to be written with anger and his right cheek with grief and indignation.

Lin Jianlu was just too indifferent.

Without even listening to any explanation, he had sent him straight to the little dark room.

"Don't be upset. The student union said they've arranged for a freshman to present you with flowers," the assistant came over to remind him. "I heard it's a very beautiful omega classmate."

"Don't," Xie Wang said impatiently. "I'll leave after I finish my speech. No need for any of that fancy stuff."

Last time he graduated, he missed the graduation ceremony because he was delayed by an audition.

This time, the audition went smoothly; after just one segment, the director applauded enthusiastically.

As for the graduation ceremony, he had no reason to refuse.

"Alright then," the assistant said. "You don't need to take it. Let him give the flowers to other graduates."

Xie Wang rubbed his temples.

"Sorry to intrude," a slightly cold voice said as the room door was pushed open just a crack. "Senior, you missed a form. The student union sent me to bring it to you."

"Come in," the assistant said.

"I'm busy, just leave it here." Xie Wang was annoyed.

However, Xie Wang seemed to be nailed to the sofa.

The omega boy before him was young and beautiful, with a hint of youthful innocence on his face. His features were strikingly refined, but the corners of his mouth was slightly turned down, giving him a cold aura, like white frost on an autumn morning.

Lin Jianlu.

It turned out to be Lin Jianlu.

Why is he so thin? Is he in this timeline eating properly?

"You..." Xie Wang opened his mouth, "Is it urgent?"

"Yes." Lin Jianlu nodded and urged, "Senior, please hurry. I need to collect the next form."

That's right, Xie Wang thought.

He debuted as a child star and was busy filming, spending most of his university years on set.

He almost forgot that Lin Jianlu was from the same school.

At this time, Lin Jianlu should have just completed his first year and was still a freshman.

Standing by the coffee table, Lin Jianlu felt the alpha's scrutinizing was a bit aggressive.

Perhaps because of his appearance, he was often subjected to such stares.

He returned the gaze with a cold and bold look.

Only—

The alpha in front of him was very tall, looking about 1.9 meters in height. His arms were covered with a layer of thin yet firm muscle, and his waist-to-hip ratio was almost perfect. His long legs were crossed and resting on the white marble floor, making the school sofa seem small in comparison.

His hair was a shade of brown rather than pure black, and his eyes were deep and sharp, with a look that hinted at a mixed heritage. His nose was high and straight, and his lips were thin, seemingly perpetually smiling.

What a great physique, Lin Jianlu thought. His pheromones must be good too.

A rather impressive alpha, quite to his taste.

Will the compatibility be high?

"Are you tired of standing?" The alpha suddenly looked up and asked with great care, "Would you like to sit?"

At first glance, he appeared fierce and domineering, but now he seemed more like a large doggy testing someone's reaction.

Lin Jianlu lowered his gaze and saw the details on the graduate information form the alpha had filled out—

Gender: Male/alpha

Marital status: Married

Lin Jianlu: "…"

"No," he replied, pulling his gaze away, picking up the completed information form, and turning to leave.

Buzzkill.

Lin Jianlu's chat id 呦呦[yoyo], pronounced yōu yōu, is onomatopoeia for the bleating of a deer and comes from the "lu" (meaning "deer") in his name.
