Chapter 36: Exposed

"I know." In the omega student dormitory of X University, Lin Jianlu was sitting on the swing hanging in front of Wei Lan's desk, swinging his legs. "Did he peek at your phone?"

"Yes!" Wei Lan's face flushed with anger. "A low-quality A with zero A morals. I'm going to write him into my script and give him the punishment he deserves."

Lin Jianlu: "..."

"You shouldn't have added him to your friends list in the first place," Lin Jianlu said. "You were too careless."

If it were him, this wouldn't have happened.

"It's a childhood engagement set up by our families, so I gave him face," Wei Lan said furiously. "At the beginning, he was flushed with anger and said in front of both families that there was no way he'd like a nerdy omega like me, and now he's pestering me."

"What a heavy loss, he's ruined my reputation," Wei Lan continued. "Out of the 25 high-quality As on my list, I lost 5 in one go. The chatting experience has dropped by one-fifth. They look down on how fast us screenwriters can make things up!"

Lin Jianlu: "..."

There are still quite a few left, though.

There are only twenty people in a class in their music school.

"Don't be mad anymore," Lin Jianlu said. "That childhood engagement between you two ends here."

Wei Lan: "True."

"Then let's go eat, YoYo," Wei Lan said. "The student union is hosting a freshman mixer tonight. We can go help out and get free food and drinks."

Lin Jianlu: "Okay."

X University is an arts school that has produced numerous professionals in the arts, including various celebrities, big and small.

At the freshman mixer organized by the student union, there were many well-known artists present. Everyone valued networking highly and treated this as an important social event.

"I'm going to see if I can hook up a fierce A," Wei Lan said, handing a stack of flyers to Lin Jianlu. "Help me hand these out."

"Fine." Lin Jianlu held the stack of flyers but didn't actively approach anyone. He just sat by the door, casually handing one out whenever someone walked by.

"Lin Jianlu?" A beta student who had just entered called out his name in surprise. "It really is you! X University is truly full of stars."

"Hello, this one's for you." Lin Jianlu politely handed over a flyer, maintaining a sense of distance.

"Can I get your autograph?" The beta student asked. "I saw some leaked photos of your Hidden Blade crew—you looked stunning in the costume."

Lin Jianlu: "Thank you."

He had never been asked for an autograph before.

"I messed up…" he said, "Let me write it again."

He signed "Lin Jianlu" and handed the flyer back.

"Thanks!" The other student walked away happily.

Lin Jianlu folded the flyer with the wrong stroke into a small square, tore it into pieces, and threw it into the trash.

He had almost written "Lin Jiale" instead.

His mother had given him that name, but she never had the chance to change it.

In this world, aside from himself, there was no one close to him left who would know that name.

And he wouldn't tell anyone.

Just now, the beta freshman said leaked photos?

Had they been photographed?

At the same time, the manager from Xingluo Entertainment happened to send him a picture—it was exactly the one taken earlier today.

[Manager]: A 6 million wedding dress, I've really seen it all now.

[YoYo]: ?

[Manager]: Your crew is splurging. The leaked photos are so stunning, you're gaining a lot of fans.

[Manager]: Speaking of which, YoYo, I've lined up a new gig for you.

[YoYo]: Yeah? Tell me.

[Manager]: You can join variety shows now.

[YoYo]: .

Lin Jianlu didn't want to go.

He wasn't someone who enjoyed talking or was good at creating a lively atmosphere. He excelled in awkward silences and killing a conversation.

[Manager]: It's a mystery escape room show, and we're collaborating with the Hidden Blade crew. Xie Wang and Chen Yimo will both be participating.

[YoYo]: I see.

[Manager]: Talking about the Hidden Blade crew, cooperate with Xie Wang for work's sake, okay?

[YoYo]: Okay.

[Manager]: But in private, stay away from those alphas of your crew and keep a proper distance.

[YoYo]: Mn.

Proper distance… he and Xie Wang should... have that, right?

Not far away, Wei Lan sat among a few alphas, holding a wine glass. It looked like he was discussing a script, but his gaze kept wandering over the alphas' bodies.

An alpha came over to strike up a conversation, but Lin Jianlu shook his head disinterestedly, brushing them off.

It had already been several days since he and Xie Wang had sex.

That day in bed, the alpha pinned him down, forcing him to lie on the pillow, restraining his struggles and thrusting hard into him, causing hot beads of sweat to fall on the gland at the back of his neck, making him shudder again and again.

It seemed that no other alpha could satisfy him as much as Xie Wang did—whether physically or emotionally.

Lin Ming called him three or four times a day, demanding that he reveal the identity of the person who marked him, or at least give him a hint.

Lin Jianlu gave them the location of a nearby construction site.

Now Lin Ming and Lin Yang were at the construction site digging deep for the person.

"YoYo," Wei Lan called over to him, waving. "Stop handing out flyers and come sing with us."

"Coming," Lin Jianlu replied.

***

In a private room on the second floor of a members-only bar near X University—

Xie Wang was caught off guard by the bombshell he got from Pei Yan, almost dropping his jaw in shock.

"Wei Lan?" he asked.

"You know him?" Pei Yan said, "You can't judge a book by its cover. He looks like such a well-behaved omega, but he has such a deep mind, a total player."

So it's Lin Jianlu who is the better-behaved. Aside from me, he doesn't pay much attention to other alphas.

Very devoted, only digging pits for me to fall into.

Xie Wang said inwardly.

As for the gossip about Wei Lan, Xie Wang struggled for a moment. Even though unhappy and agitated, he decided not to tell Lin Jianlu.

Lin Jianlu didn't have many friends and usually only liked chatting a bit more with Wei Lan.

Those two seem to always chat with each other about studies, so they must have common topics.

He didn't want Lin Jianlu to be too lonely.

What Xie Wang was thinking about was how to propose.

"Proposing, do you have any experience?" Xie Wang asked Pei Yan.

Pei Yan: "No, but it's nothing more than the usual—flowers and a ring, right?"

"Let me think about it again," Xie Wang said.

Lin Jianlu, this cheese, just slipped away after sleeping together. Business was business but personal matters ceased operations. Lately, Xie Wang couldn't find the right time to bring it up.

Better wait, don't rush things.

The seventh episode of Seeking Sound was about to start recording. The next day, both Xie Wang and Lin Jianlu went to the recording studio to prepare for the formal stage performance.

After so many rounds of competition, only fifteen people were left in the program. The stage designs for each performance had become fancier, such as lighting special effects and choreographed dance.

When Xie Wang arrived at the set today, he went to visit the group of another mentor.

And then he saw… Lin Jianlu playing the piano.

Lin Jianlu had studied the zither since childhood and occasionally, when composing, used the piano.

Today, the omega was wearing a thin black windbreaker. His hands, pressing on the piano keys, were so pale in the sunlight that they seemed almost transparent.

Lin Jianlu was following his own accompaniment, singing an original song.

He hummed as he tried to make adjustments.

Xie Wang once again heard the song he had listened to before his rebirth. Little by little, Lin Jianlu was modifying the song into the melody he had heard in the past.

And now standing by the door, he listened to the entire process of the composition.

Lin Jianlu's voice was not as cold and cheerless as his person. His youthful voice had an innocence that was unaffected by the world, and when he softly hummed, it was very captivating.

In bed, Xie Wang loved to bully him until he let out some sounds, those suppressed noises breaking into fragments as they were forced out, drifting into his ears—an especially alluring sound.

After finishing the piece, Lin Jianlu didn't move, sitting on the piano bench, watching him.

"Teacher Xie isn't looking after his own group and has come to visit mine?" Lin Jianlu asked.

"YoYo," Xie Wang said. "Do me a favor."

Tomorrow night, Xie Wang was set to go onstage to sing and open the official show's recording.

"Practice the song with me twice," Xie Wang said. "I'm afraid this show will lose ratings when I go up."

It was a very simple request, so Lin Jianlu didn't refuse.

Twenty minutes later, Lin Jianlu felt life was hopeless.

"Maybe you should…lip-sync?" Lin Jianlu suggested. "Everyone has their own expertise."

Xie Wang: "..."

Alright, at least he knew how to offer some comfort.

"No lip-syncing," Xie Wang said. "The audience loves me just the way I am."

So, Lin Jianlu had no choice but to go through the song with him two more times.

The omega looked like he'd never taught such a poor student before. Every now and then, he seemed on the verge of laughing at how off-key Xie Wang was, but mindful of his pride, he suppressed it and kept his smile in check.

Xie Wang sneaked a few glances at him.

"Sing this part again," Lin Jianlu moved a little closer to him, marking a section on the sheet music and lyrics. "You got the emphasis wrong."

Xie Wang responded with a casual "Oh."

He's so close—almost beyond the AO safety distance.

Based on his behavioral pattern observations, Xie Wang thought Lin Jianlu might "accidentally" brush against him at this point, or position himself at just the right angle to let Xie Wang catch a glimpse of how good he looked.

But Lin Jianlu did nothing of the sort. Instead, he pulled back, widening the distance again.

"Hurry up and sing, stop spacing out," Lin Jianlu said.

Xie Wang: "…"

The alpha clumsily opened his mouth and finished learning the opening song line by line.

"Lin Jianlu?" The Group 2 mentor knocked on the door and walked in. "I want to check the stage music with you."

Group 2 mentor: "Xie Wang? What are you doing here?"

"Your vocal technique still has some issues," Lin Jianlu said. "Go find my assistant and have him show you the vocal skills videos I have saved on my computer."

Xie Wang: "Oh, okay."

The omega walked out with his group mentor, passing by the sunlight streaming through the window and nodding at him as he went by.

Xie Wang was just looking for him to talk to and wasn't particularly interested in any vocal technique lessons.

So when the assistant brought Lin Jianlu's computer to him and opened a file named "111" as per Lin Jianlu's request, Xie Wang merely glanced at it without paying much attention.

"You go ahead and keep busy. I'll find time to watch it later," Xie Wang said.

"Alright, then I'll go with Lin Jianlu," the assistant said.

Professional courses at the music academy required long-term study.

Starting to watch this right before his performance felt as challenging as Nüwa mending the heavens, so he planned to let it rot.

Xie Wang closed the video.

He was about to close the laptop when he noticed the WeChat icon flashing at the bottom of the screen.

[Lan]: YoYo, here's something for you.

[Lan]: [10 Singing Tips Video]

Xie Wang: "?"

So timely?

Ten tips.

Did Lin Jianlu send this?

Xie Wang clicked on the video.

"Master these ten tips to make your alpha be hellbent on you."

Xie Wang: "???"

What's this?

What the hell is that big player Wei Lan up to?

He suddenly remembered that when he first came to the Seeking Sound program, he had seen Lin Jianlu's phone, and the sound in his headphones was—

Something's wrong.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Something's fishy.

Just then, Wei Lan sent an emoji: pushes up glasses.jpg

Xie Wang suddenly had a worse premonition.

Lin Jianlus's laptop was filled with folders named in a courseware format.

[Basic Principles of Music Creation]

Xie Wang nervously clicked on it.

"Appreciating Abs," "Compilation of Alpha Low Panting"—what is this?

Xie Wang: "…"

He clicked on another one with a livid face.

[Contemporary Composition]

Xie Wang: "...…"

"Thirty Angles of Temporary Marking," "Basic Law of Complete Marking"—just what is this?!

He clicked on another one with trembling hands.

[Teaching You Harmony]

Dozens of alphas flashed their bodies at him on the screen.

And then there was…

[The Secrets of Vocal Music]

Xie Wang: "...…..."

This folder was full of his screen clips, the kind showcasing his abs and waist, thoroughly compiled.

It was as if he had poked a horny deer's nest, which could only make it wilder, and there was no end to its wildness.

It's..it's..it's too vulgar.

Lin! Jian!! Lu!!!
