Chapter 59: Bring it on oneself

At that moment, all the little tricks he had used were exposed. Knowing that he could be his true self in front of Xie Wang, Lin Jianlu was happy.

But happiness was one thing, and the embarrassment that came rushing back after the excitement was quite another.

The next day, the director called him back to the Hidden Blade production team to film the MV for the ending theme song, which really… just felt like revisiting his bad behavior of fishing a certain someone all over again!Work stolen from https://chipoholictranslations.blogspot.com/p/homepage.html

Xie Wang obviously noticed his embarrassment and leisurely observed him from the side, with the faintest trace of a smile tugging at his lips.

The MV followed a heartwarming style — a little Easter egg for the audience, showcasing the daily lives of the two characters after their reconciliation.

The first scene took place in the small garden behind the studio.

"Da Wang, teach YoYo how to flirt with you," the director instructed.

Xie Wang walked over to Lin Jianlu in all seriousness: "Teacher Lin, do you think my teaching is up to your standards?"

Lin Jianlu: "..."

He was trying to interact with Xie Wang as his true self, but overcoming some awkwardness still required time.

"Don't pretend, do it yourself," Xie Wang said.

Lin Jianlu took off his shoes, walking barefoot across the lawn. His right hand stopped the wooden swing swaying in the breeze, and he sat on it.

The swing was built high, so his legs dangled, with the arches of his pale feet stretched taut. His toes barely touched the grass. He tiptoed slightly, rocking the swing gently twice.

He lifted his chin a bit, signaling for Xie Wang to come closer. Xie Wang took two steps forward, and Lin Jianlu's slightly raised foot just happened to touch the hem of the alpha's pants. Xie Wang immediately grabbed his ankle.

"Is this good enough?" Lin Jianlu asked, head lowered slightly, his cheeks tinged with a faint red.

Some things could be done quietly, but doing them openly was another matter entirely.

Xie Wang didn't answer immediately. He just looked down at Lin Jianlu from above, his smile deepening a little, making Lin Jianlu's heart beat faster—thump, thump—like a little deer dashing around.

Xie Wang raised his hand, his fingertip brushing across Lin Jianlu's neck. He undid two of the buttons on Lin Jianlu's white shirt, ruffing the collar a little. Then, he adjusted the garden's automatic sprinkler system, redirecting the fine, transparent droplets of water forming a curtain of rain to dampen the omega's hair and shirt.

"I think this is more like Lin Jianlu," Xie Wang said. "What do you think?"

Lin Jianlu: "...Seems so."

"Hey, you two are quite good at this," the director strolled over to check on the progress. "Not bad. Let's keep it as is for this shot. Da Wang, add a bit more interaction—help push the swing, or maybe throw in a swing kiss or something."

Xie Wang: "No problem."

The MV shoot was simpler than the movie filming. After a few easy interactions, this segment was done. While the director hovered over the cameraman to check the raw footage, Lin Jianlu sat idly on the swing, pushing it gently back and forth with his feet.

Halfway through the gentle swaying, his face turned red, his gaze slightly unfocused. Feeling guilty, he sneaked a glance at Xie Wang, but quickly tried to restore his usual cold and distant expression. Of course, Xie Wang noticed.

Xie Wang walked up behind him and hugged him: "What dirty thoughts are you having?"

Lin Jianlu: "I'm not."

Xie Wang's hand slipped beneath his shirt, pinching his waist. Lin Jianlu yelped in pain.

"Swing play, do you know it?" Lin Jianlu asked.

Xie Wang paused. He didn't know, but it sounded thrilling.

"You just want to bully my waist, hmm?" Xie Wang said, both amused and exasperated.

"? I never said I wanted to play with you," Lin Jianlu muttered, looking down. He looked cold, but his red ear tips gave him away.

"Then who do you want to play with?" Xie Wang pressed, unwilling to let it go. "Do you have another dog?"

Annoyed, Lin Jianlu jumped off the swing.

How had he never realized before that a Fierce A could also be so clingy?

"What's this nonsense about dogs? Are you two seriously arguing?" the director asked. "This segment is good to go. Move on to the next one."

Xie Wang heard Lin Jianlu humming softly to himself—it was the ending song of Hidden Blade, a new tune he had never heard before his rebirth.

"Teach me to sing a couple of lines too," Xie Wang said. "I'll sing it at the press release."

"No," Lin Jianlu refused. "You're a terrible singer."

Feigning anger, Xie Wang scooped him up horizontally and carried him into the art studio.

The familiar setting reminded Lin Jianlu of what he had done to Xie Wang the last time they filmed there.

Sure enough, a hint of grievance appeared in Xie Wang's eyes.

Lin Jianlu sighed inwardly. Back then, Xie Wang had been so easy to tease—just a little bit of playful flirting, and the alpha's breathing would grow heavier, his gaze glued to him, unable to look away.

But now, Xie Wang lounged there with his jacket casually open, one leg bent, perched on a high stool. In one hand, he idly flipped through a prop art book, and in the other, he held a can of beer.

He looked so effortlessly handsome. Now, the one whose breathing quickened and who wanted to get closer was Lin Jianlu himself.

"How are we filming this scene?" Xie Wang asked for his opinion. "Let's make it more intimate."

Lin Jianlu lifted the alpha's chin with the tip of his paintbrush.

"You can be more seductive," Xie Wang said with a cheerful laugh. He waved over the makeup artist and borrowed a lipstick, smearing a touch of crimson at the corner of Lin Jianlu's lips.

"Try this," Xie Wang said. "There's no way I can resist this look."

Lin Jianlu: "..."

"Da Wang, what are you doing? You've ruined his makeup!" The director gave Xie Wang a tongue-lashing.Work stolen from https://chipoholictranslations.blogspot.com/p/homepage.html

Completely unrepentant, the alpha laughed and carefully wiped the lipstick smudge off Lin Jianlu's cheek with a wet tissue.

"Just lean in and chat with each other for this shot," the director instructed. "Don't be too cheesy—keep it simple."

So, Lin Jianlu held a palette and pretended to paint on the canvas, while Xie Wang stood beside him, lowering his head and talking softly to him.

"Do you have work tonight?" Xie Wang asked him.

"I have rehearsals," Lin Jianlu replied in a low voice. "The TV station invited me to sing."

Xie Wang: "Then I'll go with you."

Lin Jianlu cast a sidelong glance at him: "You follow me everywhere."

"I like you, YoYo," Xie Wang said, hugging him tightly from behind and refusing to let go. "Take me with you."

Held in the alpha's firm embrace, Lin Jianlu couldn't help but feel like he'd provoked a big clingy dog that insisted on following him everywhere.

"Alright, alright," the director called out for a cut. "You're stuffing me full of dog food. Take a break, then we'll shoot a new promotional poster for Hidden Blade."

Lin Jianlu: "Poster?"

He remembered that Hidden Blade's promotional poster had already been shot ages ago, the one with Xie Wang and Chen Yimo glaring at each other.

"Add you to this one," the director said. "With this plot, a three-person photo would really add some tension."

Lin Jianlu grabbed a bag of marshmallows from Chen Yimo and went to sit off to the side for a break.

"Da Wang," Chen Yimo bribed Xie Wang with another bag of snacks. "You're awesome! Teach me how to pursue a cold and aloof O. You've already caught the hardest type."

"I can't really explain that," Xie Wang replied. "Lin Jianlu is one of a kind."

Besides, his wife wasn't cold and aloof at all—he was sweet and playful.

The marshmallows Chen Yimo brought today had several flavors. Lin Jianlu picked out the watermelon-flavored ones, which he didn't like, one by one. Midway through, his phone lit up with a message.

[Unknown Number]: I'm Lin Zhi. I was wrong for talking nonsense to you before. I apologize. It's all my fault. Can you please ask Xie Wang to stop sabotaging my opportunities? I've already lost three endorsements. I'm truly sorry.

Lin Jianlu stared at the content of the short message for a long time.

Not far away, his alpha had an arm slung over Chen Yimo's shoulder. The two of them seemed to be talking about something interesting, laughing loudly, carefree and cheerful.

Lin Jianlu didn't reply to Lin Zhi. Instead, he blocked the number.

When he looked up again, the two alphas, along with the director, were untangling a length of red cotton rope.

"What are they doing?" Lin Jianlu asked the makeup artist.

"The props got tangled and need to be untangled," the other person replied.

"Whose props are these?" Lin Jianlu asked, with a sinking feeling in his stomach.

"Yours."

He knew it!

This was worse than any scene he had been tied up in the movie. His wrists, ankles, and neck were all wrapped in red rope, which extended in every direction. The director stood beside him, explaining that the number of ropes represented how many times Xie Wang failed to rescue him in the film. The colors and knots of the ropes each corresponded to specific events in the plot.

As soon as Xie Wang saw the look in his omega's eyes, he guessed that Lin Jianlu hadn't absorbed any of the explanation and was probably thinking about dirty stuff.

"Da Wang, hug him from behind," the director instructed. "Add fake blood and wounds to Da Wang's fingers with the props. Chen Yimo, use a dagger to tilt his chin, but be careful, or Da Wang will get upset with you."

Lin Jianlu couldn't move, only feeling Xie Wang's arms around him from behind.

"What are you thinking about?" Xie Wang whispered. "Share it with me."

"I'm thinking about what expression I should have," Lin Jianlu said seriously.

"You think I believe that?" Xie Wang sneered.

Lin Jianlu whispered something in his ear.

Xie Wang's face turned a lusty red.

"Are you two elementary schoolers? Whispering to each other while taking a photo?" The director handed the knife prop to Chen Yimo. "Go on, tilt his chin."

After a first attempt, the director wasn't satisfied with the effect and said, "Forget tilting YoYo's chin. Da Wang, grab the blade with one hand. You're protecting your omega."

This time, everyone was happy with the result.

"Alright, Chen Yimo, come over for your solo pervert photoshoot," the director said. "Da Wang, you can free your wife yourself."

The crew moved to another set, and in the shooting studio, Xie Wang slowly started to untie the ropes on Lin Jianlu.

"In about six months, Hidden Blade will be released," Xie Wang said, taking his time. "By then, you'll be the little hostage loved by the whole internet."

Lin Jianlu: "Oh."

"Do you still want to act with me? If you do, I'll specially create a script for the two of us." Xie Wang asked.Work stolen from https://chipoholictranslations.blogspot.com/p/homepage.html

Lin Jianlu: "No, I just want to sing."

"Then I'll give you all the box office revenue from Hidden Blade," Xie Wang said, slowly untying a knot. "Just do what you like."

"You... hurry up." Lin Jianlu said.

Xie Wang's movements were slow, as if he was studying a piece of art, and warm air brushed against Lin Jianlu's neck as he spoke.

Xie Wang chuckled and quickened his pace: "I thought you liked it."

"I... don't like it." Lin Jianlu said.

At this moment, in Xie Wang's eyes, his refusal became 'saying no, meaning yes,' and his resistance became an unfulfilled desire.

It was not Xie Wang's fault; he brought it on himself.

"If you keep this up, I'll get mad." Lin Jianlu said again.

"Sure, I like the angry version of you too." Xie Wang replied.

The red ropes dropped all over the floor. Lin Jianlu stretched his wrists and stood up: "Finally done with the shooting."

"Dad asked me to take you ring shopping." Xie Wang said. "Do you have a particular type you like?"

"You decide," Lin Jianlu replied. "I'll like whatever you give me."

But you never wore the one I got you before my rebirth because it wasn't quite right.

Lin Jianlu's words just sound good, Xie Wang thought to himself.

So this time, he was going to give Lin Jianlu only the best.
