"I'm back! I finally wrapped up filming!" This was Xie Wang's first sentence as he rushed back home.
The second sentence: "YoYo, do you want to go to have some fun?"
Lin Jianlu, who was peeling a grapefruit with a knife, was obviously startled by his sudden commotion, and the knife in his hand clattered onto the coffee table.
Xie Wang's gaze then drifted to the half-peeled grapefruit flesh in his hand.
"I just want to eat..." Lin Jianlu explained.
"I know, I didn't overthink it." Xie Wang chuckled helplessly. "Hand it over, I'll peel it for you."
Lin Jianlu genuinely just wanted to eat it; recently, he had developed a liking for the fruit. Peeling it also turned out to be a stress reliever.
"Da Wang, didn't you go to the wrap party?" he asked.
"Didn't feel like it. I heard from your fans that you're free tonight, so I came back." Xie Wang picked up the knife from the table and started peeling the grapefruit for Lin Jianlu.
"I'd like to go out, but where shall we go?" Lin Jianlu said as he tasted a piece of the grapefruit, finding it surprisingly sweet.
He casually fed Xie Wang a small piece as well.
The Alpha opened his mouth and gently bit Lin Jianlu's fingertip twice.
"YoYo, my ge recently bought a winery abroad. We can stay there for a while," Xie Wang suggested. "Want to go?"
Lin Jianlu nodded. "Okay."
Xie Wang was a man of action. The very next day, he had his assistant book tickets, and the two of them flew out together.
The winery was in a small local town, far from the bustle and glamor of big cities. High-rise buildings were scarce, but the environment was tranquil—an ideal place for a holiday.
They happened to arrive during the grape harvest season, and the aroma of sweet wine filled the winery. Nearby, there was also a beautiful inland lake.
As the car drove past the lake, Lin Jianlu gazed at its pristine and transparent surface for a while.
He didn't say anything, but his alpha seemed to immediately read his thoughts. "Want to go boating? We can drop off our luggage and head there."
"I do," Lin Jianlu replied.
The lake was surrounded by towering mountains, their peaks still capped with snow. On the far side of the lake was the small town, with rows of low and small houses with red roofs and blooming flowers everywhere.
Their room was in a resort attached to the winery. Xie Wang was fluent in the local language and had someone bring over some wine.
"Not very sweet," Lin Jianlu commented after taking a small sip.
Xie Wang swapped his glass for another. "Try this one; it's sweet."
Lin Jianlu hesitantly took a sip. It tasted a lot like grape juice but carried a far richer, more mellow flavor.
"Don't drink too much," Xie Wang warned. "It's very easy to get tipsy."
Lin Jianlu: "Mhm."
Both of them were busy with work, and this trip marked their first vacation since getting married. Lin Jianlu found himself thoroughly enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the winery resort.
"Shall we go, YoYo? Let's go boating," Xie Wang asked him.
The boat was the most age-old hand-rowed boat, tied by the lakeshore near the winery.
Xie Wang stepped onto the wooden dock and hopped onto the boat first. Then he reached out his hand to Lin Jianlu. The small wooden boat swayed slightly as Lin Jianlu got on, wobbling twice before Xie Wang held him steady.
"Do you know how to row?" Lin Jianlu asked.
"Nope," Xie Wang admitted honestly. "I'll look up a video to learn now."
The boat spun in circles near the shore a few times before Xie Wang got the hang of rowing. The small boat sailed toward the center of the lake, gradually revealing a full view of the small town and the snow-capped mountains in the distance.
Lin Jianlu sat at one end of the boat, his right hand resting casually on the side, cutting ripples on the lake's surface with his fingertips.
Perhaps feeling that sitting down made it harder to row effectively, Xie Wang stood up. The alpha took off his jacket and tied it around his waist. His strong arms gripped the oar, though he occasionally made a wrong stroke, causing the boat to wobble a few times on the water.
"If you like it here, we can come back every year to stay for a while." Reaching the middle of the lake, Xie Wang set the oar aside, letting the boat float on the water. "What are you shooting?"
"Let me see." Xie Wang held out his hand.
So Lin Jianlu handed him his phone.
Xie Wang saw a short video that had already been posted online:
@NineColoredDeer-YoYo: Look, Da Wang paddling! [Video]
Though it had only been up for a few minutes, the comment section was already buzzing.
@LinJianlu'sDog8532: The lake is gorgeous! Are you two on vacation? Great scenery.
@LinJianlu'sBichon: Hahahaha, Xie Dog doesn't know how to paddle! That boat is so rocky.
@NotACicada: @Orange, I've been to this lake for sketching.
@KingJiJi: From this angle, Xie Wang looks so tall! Damn handsome.
@LinJianlu'sShibaInu: Definitely posted by the man himself. Enjoy your holiday!
"You seem very free," Xie Wang remarked, tossing the phone back to Lin Jianlu. With a flick of the oar, he splashed water all over Lin Jianlu. "Your turn to row."
Lin Jianlu: "..."
Xie Wang threw the oar to him.
"Row where?" The oar, which seemed light and easy in Xie Wang's hands, felt rather heavy to Lin Jianlu.
"Over there," Xie Wang said, pointing toward a cluster of flowers along the shore.
Lin Jianlu didn't stand up like Xie Wang. He sat at the stern and rowed very slowly.
A few tourists passed by in faster boats, laughing at their tortoise-like pace.
"We're not racing; it's sightseeing…" Lin Jianlu muttered. Then he added, "Da Wang, my arms are sore."
Xie Wang, sitting at the bow with his legs spread out for balance, simply raised an eyebrow, showing no intention of taking over.
Lin Jianlu: "?"
He managed to row a little farther toward the shore before his strength gave out entirely.
He needed to come up with a way to make Xie Wang row instead.
Judging from the alpha's demeanor, it was clear he was waiting to see what Lin Jianlu would do.
Lin Jianlu lowered his gaze, a faint smile curling the corners of his lips.
"Let me hear you call me 'ge,'" Xie Wang demanded. "Stop going along with the others, always calling me 'Da Wang' like you're calling a dog."
Hearing this, Lin Jianlu threw the oar into the boat.
As the small wooden boat swayed, Xie Wang rolled up his sleeves to his elbows, leaning on the side of the boat and looking at him complacently.
But the next second, the alphas' smile froze on his face. Whether intentionally or not, Lin Jianlu lifted his instep, brushing him lightly there.
But Lin Jianlu didn't look at him; instead, he gazed calmly at the distant lakeshore.
Xie Wang grabbed him by the collar and planted a couple of rough, messy kisses on him, rubbing his thumb against the omega's gland like a warning.
Lin Jianlu kissed him back.
"Help me, Da Wang," Lin Jianlu murmured softly, his voice breaking and tender in Xie Wang's ear. "I don't have any strength left…"
Xie Wang had no choice but to surrender. Grabbing the oar, he got to work honestly.
"You're so bad," Xie Wang said.
"What are you saying? I don't understand," Lin Jianlu replied with a blank face.
Xie Wang sneered.
The flash of pride in Lin Jianlu's eyes revealed everything.
The boat left the center of the lake and followed the shore, taking in the town's quaint charm bit by bit, its peaceful and tranquil atmosphere full of life.
On the shore, a newlywed couple was having their photos taken. The bride's white veil fluttered in the wind, revealing a face overflowing with happiness.
"YoYo," Xie Wang suddenly spoke up.
"Hmm?" Lin Jianlu, who had been listening to the calls of waterfowl, turned his head.
"Sing me a song," Xie Wang said.
Having a popular singer in the family meant never losing at karaoke and always having his own personal BGM on trips.
"Which song do you want to hear?" Lin Jianlu asked him.
"How about you sing all of them one time? Is that okay?"
He once felt melancholy every time he looked at his empty playlist after returning to the past, but now, his playlist had gradually been filled up with Lin Jianlu's works, even including songs that Lin Jianlu had specifically written for him.
"Then I'll just sing whatever," Lin Jianlu said. He truly sang at random, mixing a few songs together and humming them for Xie Wang to hear.
His voice was unique—initially cold-sounding, but if you listened carefully, it had a story to tell. Xie Wang was absolutely enamored with Lin Jianlu's voice.
He even recorded a short clip and posted it on his profile.
@Xie Wang: Lin Jianlu's concert with only one audience member. [Video]
Video comments section:
@LinJianlu'sBorderCollie: Are you two taking turns posting on Weibo while rowing the boat to show off your love? The scenery really is great.
@Beetle: Hahaha, he's just singing randomly, and the wrong lyrics are something he made up on the spot.
@Butterfly: But his acapella is so strong—no autotune and still sounds amazing.
@Bee: You look so handsome in the clip your wife just took! Worthy of film emperor-level appearance. Why is it that when you film Lin Jianlu, you only show half his face? Don't you want us to see it?
@LinJianlu'sDog88888: Just go hang out with your omega, stop showing off already. We get it, you're in love.
Xie Wang chuckled, continued rowing the small boat, and hummed along with Lin Jianlu's singing.
"You've made me go off-key," Lin Jianlu said.
"Really?" Xie Wang didn't believe it. "I've listened to this song at least a few hundred times."
Lin Jianlu stared blankly for a moment, then smiled.
Is it really that good, to have listened to it so much?
The small boat drifted closer to the winery.
He said, "Da Wang, I want to float a little longer and look at the flower fields over there."
"Sure, whatever you want," Xie Wang replied.
The boat drifted back toward the center of the lake, and the surface of the water shimmered with light.
