It energized Xie Wang's whole person.
Before his rebirth, every time they did it, whenever he saw Lin Jianlu's sweat-soaked hair, slightly reddened eyes, and forbearing expression, he would feel a bit of sympathy, pause, be patient, and say a few words to placate him in a calm voice.
At those times, Lin Jianlu would easily become impatient and would scratch him while pushing him away and refusing.
Every time, the scratches left behind seemed to be... on his abdomen?
This had almost been engraved into Xie Wang's DNA.
He suddenly realized that back then, the two of them were too lacking in communication.
He had never truly cared about Lin Jianlu.
If given another chance, he wanted to take Lin Jianlu out to enjoy the sun, go out to have fun, and do everything that an ordinary couple would do.
"Cut, cut, cut," the director shouted, "DaWang, go face the wall. You're showing a lot of emotions today, most people can't act it out."
"Let's continue. Xiao Lin, you're up for the next scene," the director said. "That was pretty good just now. Tough on the outside but yearning on the inside, liking and also desiring—you grasped the feeling perfectly. It's DaWang who is out of it today. Have DaWang buy you milk tea later."
Xie Wang sat in the corner of the art studio, watching from a distance as Lin Jianlu's manager pulled him aside to nag him. The manager also threw him a few eye daggers from time to time.
Xie Wang: "..."
Damn it.
Luckily, Chen Yimo wasn't around, or he would definitely laugh at him.
Lin Jianlu's acting is so good?
How come he never noticed before.
Lin Jianlu was taken by the makeup artist to get a touch-up and then started shooting the scene where he runs out of the art studio.
For a short scene that lasted only a few seconds, Lin Jianlu had to reshoot it four or five times.
The director was more patient with Lin Jianlu than with Xie Wang, personally demonstrating how the scene should be done until they finally got it right.
His acting is just so-so, the normal level for a beginner.
Xie Wang thought to himself.
So what was that overwhelming acting when he faced him just now?
He couldn't figure it out.
"Later, you'll bump into Chen Yimo, who plays the criminal, on the street corner. He tries chatting with you, but you respond coldly," the director explained the scene. "But since the pervert has gone home to rest today during his susceptible period, we'll film this part next time."
"DaWang!" the director shouted toward the wall. "If you're rested, come over and shoot the scene."
"Coming." Xie Wang stood up.
Lin Jianlu obediently returned to his spot in front of the easel.
The break did him good—Xie Wang was back in form.
After all, he was from the strength faction. This time, he took a very smooth shot. He unbuttoned the top of Lin Jianlu's shirt slowly while lifting the hem of the omega's white shirt slightly. The alpha's large hand hovered under the fabric. Xie Wang subtly shifted his body to block the small portion of Lin Jianlu's waist that was exposed from the camera's view.
"This take was excellent," the director said. "Although DaWang, you blocked the camera a bit—forget it, we'll just keep this."
Lin Jianlu's manager finally stopped glaring at him.
"Next is a kissing scene, so both of you should get into the right state," the director said. "Come, let's start shooting some outdoor scenes with the supporting actors."
The temperature had dropped in the past few days, and the weather was a bit chilly. As soon as the last scene ended, Lin Jianlu's assistant handed him a coat, wrapping the omega up tightly as he sat down in a chair.
Regret welled up in Xie Wang's heart.
Lin Jianlu was like a strawberry, loving warmth and disliking the cold.
Whenever it was cold, Lin Jianlu would always bundle up tightly.
Lin Jianlu had just accompanied him through multiple NGs, how cold he must be.
Xie Wang asked one of the crew members for a cup of ginger tea.
He walked over, ignoring the angry glare from Lin Jianlu's manager, and handed the ginger tea to Lin Jianlu.
"Thank you, senior." Lin Jianlu held the cup of ginger tea and lowered his head to take a sip.
Perhaps because the ginger tea was a bit too hot and spicy, he turned his head and coughed twice. A slight blush appeared on his face, which had turned pale from the cold.
"I'll… talk to him about the next scene," Xie Wang said.
The manager huffed and walked away.
Xie Wang leaned against the wall, slowly sliding down until he was sitting beside Lin Jianlu.
"I didn't mean to," he said. "I'm really not in the right state of mind today."
Lin Jianlu shook his head: "It's okay."
Xie Wang sat with him for a while, waiting for him to slowly finish the cup of ginger tea.
During this time, Lin Jianlu looked down at his phone several times. Xie Wang caught a glimpse of Wei Lan's name, guessing that the two were chatting about some boring academic stuff again.
"Are you still cold?" Xie Wang asked.
He was wary of leaving a bad impression on Lin Jianlu.
"No," Lin Jianlu replied.
Xie Wang wanted to chat with him, but couldn't think of a suitable topic.
"Senior," Lin Jianlu spoke first, "It hurts a little. Help me see what's wrong?"
Xie Wang immediately asked, "Where?"
Lin Jianlu lifted a corner of his white shirt.
No one was paying attention to them, and Lin Jianlu's manager was nowhere to be seen.
Why do I even care about that? Xie Wang thought.
He grabbed Lin Jianlu's shirt at lighting speed and glanced at his waist.
There was a reddish scratch on the snow-white skin.
Xie Wang glanced at his own wrist, where he was wearing a worn-out prop watch. It must have been during the scene just now that he accidentally scratched Lin Jianlu.
"Does it hurt a lot?" he asked.
Lin Jianlu: "It's nothing serious."
He's so good.
Xie Wang thought to himself.
He had never asked Lin Jianlu if it hurt before.
"I can't see it," Lin Jianlu said. "Can you check again to see if it's bleeding?"
Xie Wang had just let go of the shirt, but upon hearing this, he had no choice but to brace himself and lift the thin fabric once more.
"A little," he said, his expression turning serious and earnest. "I'll go get you a band-aid."
He stood up and went to find someone from the crew for first aid supplies.
Lin Jianlu watched him leave, and then sent a message to Wei Lan.
[Lan]: Filming?
[YoYo]: Ahhh, I have a kissing scene with him later.
[YoYo]: Pushing glasses.jpg
[Lan]: So happy? That's rare.
[YoYo]: I've figured it out.
[YoYo]: I want him to bite me.
[Lan]: jiayou, jiayou, I'm rooting for you.
[Lan]: We can both get a fierce A.
"Shall I put it on for you or do you want to do it yourself?" came a voice from above.
It was Xie Wang, back with the band-aid.
"I'll do it myself," Lin Jianlu said, turning off his phone screen.
For some reason, in that brief glance, Xie Wang thought he saw words like "bite me" and "fierce A."
But there was no time to dwell on it. Lin Jianlu opened the band-aid packaging and hesitantly tried to place it on his waist.
No, that's too low.
Lin Jianlu expressionlessly changed direction.
"A bit higher," Xie Wang directed.
Still wrong.
Xie Wang crouched down, taking the band-aid from Lin Jianlu's hand. He pressed it carefully onto the fair skin, smoothing it down before letting go.
"Thanks," Lin Jianlu said softly.
Xie Wang's fingertips were hot, and in that brief moment of contact, they provided Lin Jianlu with the sense of security he wanted.
But the next instant, Xie Wang pulled away and returned to his original spot.
Lin Jianlu's manager had reappeared at some point and was glaring at him.
Xie Wang: "..."
Why are you so ferocious!
What's wrong with taking care of his omega!
"Let's go over the script?" Xie Wang asked.
"Okay," Lin Jianlu agreed.
He handed his script to Xie Wang.
The two thin sheets of paper left Xie Wang stunned.
He caught a faint whiff of strawberries, a scent that quickly faded.
How could there be a strawberry smell? That was the smell of Lin Jianlu's pheromones.
He was all too familiar with Lin Jianlu's strawberry scent—a very distinct sweet and sour scent he'd never encountered anywhere else.
But Lin Jianlu's expression was normal as he looked at Xie Wang, as if waiting for his reaction.
Xie Wang had no choice but to flip through the script.
"In the scene, you pretend to be angry and rush out of the art studio. You run into the pervert criminal played by Chen Yimo. Your simplicity and innocence make him want to strike up a conversation with you, but you're cold to him. He keeps watching you from the side until I come after you," Xie Wang explained that part of the script.
Lin Jianlu: "Hm."
"Chen Yimo sneaks away, and I catch up to you, comforting you with sweet words. I tell you we mustn't divorce and that I'll never let you go. Then, I kiss you." Xie Wang paused here before continuing, "They want to do a close-up shot. Do you know how to kiss?"
Lin Jianlu didn't answer directly. Instead, he asked, "Do you?"
"I…" Xie Wang hesitated.
Lin Jianlu: "?"
"I don't!" Xie Wang hurriedly responded.
All of his experience in these matters came from Lin Jianlu.
But the current Lin Jianlu isn't married to him.
He knew how, but Lin Jianlu didn't.
And he figured that back before his rebirth, Lin Jianlu probably didn't know either.
Lin Jianlu: "?"
"Really don't, YoYo," Xie Wang foolishly explained, "Look at my past—I don't have any scandals."
Lin Jianlu: "You'd better not."
Xie Wang: "..."
For the first time, he seemed to sense an emotion from Lin Jianlu.
Although it was only fleeting.
"I'm just worried that... you might think I'm a bad actor," Lin Jianlu said coldly.
"I'll teach you," Xie Wang said, folding the script and setting it aside. "I'll take the lead again in the next scene. You just follow my cues."
Lin Jianlu agreed.
Lin Jianlu scooted closer to where Xie Wang was sitting, turned to face him, and placed his hand on Xie Wang's shoulder. After a moment's thought, he moved his hand to Xie Wang's cheek.
"Is this the right angle?" he asked.
Xie Wang thought back to the script and replied, "No, you need to stand up."
Lin Jianlu stood up and was pushed to the wall by Xie Wang.
The alpha was much taller than him, and it felt very oppressive.
"I'm going to touch the back of your neck, but I won't touch your gland. Don't be afraid," Xie Wang said politely.
Lin Jianlu pouted imperceptibly.
Xie Wang's hand moved to the back of his head, making him look up.
Lin Jianlu stood on his tiptoes and got even closer to Xie Wang.
Xie Wang felt a slight heat spread along his spine again, and for a moment, he was tempted to lean in and kiss him.
"That's about it. Think about it again, and we'll be ready when we start shooting," Xie Wang said, trying to keep his composure. "The director's calling me; I'll go see what he wants."
Ask him what he can't say all at once.
Lin Jianlu: "Okay, kiss later."
When Xie Wang left, his cheeks were still hot.
He seems to like Lin Jianlu too much. Just being a little closer, without Lin Jianlu doing or saying anything, was enough to make his mood fluctuate.
Lin Jianlu sat back down in the chair and reopened his chat with Wei Lan.
[YoYo]: Can you kiss?
[Wei Lan]: I can't.
[YoYo]: I can't either.
[YoYo]: What should I do? Will he be dissatisfied with me?
